The anticipation for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 paid off as a fantastic sequel to an already-great game, and this title quickly became one of the most beloved PlayStation titles of all time. Its stellar action gameplay, beautiful score, phenomenal setpieces and amazing narrative have helped it stand out as one of the best games to release in 2023.

The main difference in the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are more advanced ray tracing options. They allow to get prettier reflections and shadows, as well as more realistic looking lighting (the game supports Nvidia DLSS Ray Reconstruction technology). PC Purchase Perks include an Arachknight Suit for Peter and a Shadow-Spider Suit for Miles (with 3 color variants each), a Web Grabber Gadget, and +3 Skill Points. With a PlayStation Network account connection, players can receive two additional suits, the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit. A PSN account is optional, though, and not required in order to play Spider-Man 2 on PC. Much of Spider-Man 2’s environment is filled with skyscrapers as Peter and Miles swing through Marvel’s New York City. PC enhancements to ray tracing improve reflections, interiors, shadows, and provide ambient occlusion options for an increased depth.
On July 20, 2023, we finally got the official story trailer for Spider-Man 2, showing off new details of the story, as well as some gameplay and cutscenes, including the first look at the beefed-up Venom villain in-game. Again, there are very few gameplay details available about Spider-Man 2’s gameplay, but it’s bringing back the open-world version of New York that made the first game so successful. While overseeing a prison transfer with Peter at The Raft, a vengeful Miles fails to stop the Hunters from capturing Martin Li, who previously killed his father, Jefferson Davis. Investigating Kraven, Peter discovers he is hunting super-powered individuals in search of an “equal”. Having already killed Scorpion, Vulture, Shocker, and Electro, Kraven attempts to capture Black Cat. However, Miles helps her escape to Paris by using the mystical Wand of Watoomb.
The trio attempt to save Connors, but Kraven forcibly turns him back into the Lizard, steals the serum needed to transform him back and mortally wounds Peter. Before Peter can die, the exosuit transfers itself from Harry to Peter’s body, saving him and becoming into Black Spider-Man. After Peter viciously defeats the Hunters with his newly enhanced powers, Kraven develops an interest in hunting Peter personally. Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales face the ultimate test of strength inside and outside the mask as they fight to save the city, each other and the ones they love, from the monstrous Venom and the dangerous new symbiote threat. Still, PC gamers will want to be cautious about picking up the game right now because of the crashing and various other technical issues, but when they do dive in, they’ll want to make sure that they have a controller handy.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. The devs claim that they have also brought some general performance optimizations. Patch 7 fixes a crash that could occur when minimizing the game application.

The Deluxe version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC will feature all Standard Edition content and additional stuff. These mechanics paired with the cinematic cuts of action sequences build up an amazing spectacle both of fluid movement and stunning visuals. Many have waited long to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, but for some, the performance is an absolute nightmare. According to credible rumors, Marvel’s Venom by Insomniac Games is doing well, and gamers suspect it could become a launch title for the PlayStation 6. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a singleplayer game, not featuring online play of any sort.
But Martin Li is only seen about two times before he and Miles fight, and then he isn’t seen again until he’s redeemed and loses his powers. The best thing MJ contributes to this game is when she turns into Scream. She vents her frustrations with herself and Peter in a way that shows she isn’t this perfect paragon she’s presented as the rest of the time. Lean into that and show that she’s just as flawed as the main two heroes, and more people might actually start to like her. [newline]There are a few cool explorable locations like the Emily-May Foundation and Coney Island, but the rest is just a blob of boring buildings. Very few of the alternate color schemes look better than the default, though. Spider-Man is one of Sony’s preeminent exclusive titles, so it gets the extra special optimization treatment.
Tasked with finding a missing grandfather, players must track the man across Brooklyn at the behest of his granddaughter and caretaker. It culminates not in an action set piece, but a quiet moment where Miles sits with an elder battling dementia, ruminating in Prospect Park at the place he proposed to his late wife. Reflecting on how these memories will soon be lost to him, it’s a stark reminder to Miles (and the player) that this world is populated by real people and their experiences, and that is worth fighting for. There’s also the prerequisite stealth options which — and this cannot be stressed enough — serve zero purpose for Spider-Man. As with most games, the choice to stick with stealth attacks will almost aways slow down the gameplay and result in most players triggering fisticuffs just to get back to the action.
First hypnotised by the light of the monitor as he muddled through Simon the Sorcerer on his uncle’s machine, he’s been a devotee ever since, devouring any RPG or strategy game to stumble into his path. Though hotfixes are flying thick and fast as I finish out this review, for me the patches have so far failed to tackle frequent crashes to desktop. I find it difficult to diagnose my experience—while others have seen wide-ranging performance issues, for me the game runs smoothly, until it suddenly doesn’t. Without warning, in seemingly undemanding scenes and without any preceding slowdown, the game simply gives up, citing only nonsensical display driver issues.
